About

I know I touched breifly on this on my home page, but I want to talk a little more about my poetry. Growing up, my mum and I used to throw a poem back and forth where we'd each add a line to the one before.

II never actually set out with the intention of getting into writing poetry of my own at any time, but I stumbled across it purely by chance at a time in my life when it seemed that life was throwing me lemons.

I dabbled a little into poetry on my Facebook wall and everyone who read it told me that it was good, so I dabbled a little more in other places and was encouraged to enter into competitions, which was something I didn't feel comfortable doing.

By now, I'd discovered the world of online writing where I also shared some poetry. Sadly for me, the place where I shared my poems closed in 2014 so I drifted about for a while feeling rather lost. I recently posted a vote on Facebook and I was informed that people would like to see my poetry all in one place, so I decided to not only give them my poetry, but my photographs as well - and this website is the result of that.

I've been interested in photography since I was in my early teens. It helped to fuel that interest when my form room at school was filled with other people's attempts to visually express themselves. This was back in the days before digital cameras though - and being loaned a camera to take pictures of your own was a treat that I was scared to capitalise on because you didn't get to find out how your pictures looked until after you'd had the film developed.

I enjoyed loaning mum's camera when I went on trips with school though (although I was terrified that I'd lose it - thankfully, that never happened and the old 35mm is still in the family today). I was fortunate enough to visit the Millennium Dome where I took pictures and the school also did a trip to London which I took some pictures of.

Sadly, I never got to take my GCSE in Photography. Based on my behavior in a different subject, it was decided that I couldn't be trusted without the supervision of a teacher. I still continued to take photographs though and discovered that Nature was the area that I most enjoyed. Unfortunately, I lost many of those early photographs over the years and several house moves.

I drifted away from photography for a few years, but now I'm back... although I haven't had much of a chance to venture out into nature just yet.

Update Policy

My policy for updating this website is as and when inspiration strikes. Because I write poetry as a hobby and I have other commitments that I have to work around, I may or may not be able to update as often as I might like to be able to.

Some of my works will be purely experimental in nature, too. Currently, the only area that I'm working on experimentally is acrostic poetry. However, I am logging my work here so that I can refer back and easily see if I am progressing at all with this new style of poetry.
